In the ROOM 2, I would like to share some of the related articles in order to support and strengthen the concept and mind set of becoming a true entrepreneur. In ROOM 3, I will use whatever the knowledge that I have learnt from the previous two rooms’ theories in order to train myself to become an entrepreneur.

ROOM 1:
  • Ma Yun (Jack Ma)
  • Mark Zuckerberg
  • Bill Gates
  • Tony Fernandes

MA YUN (JACK MA)

NAME : MA YUN (JACK MA)
          AGE    : 51 YEARS OLD
          SEX     : MALE
EDUCATION : HANGZHOU NORMAL UNIVERSITI (1988)
Ma Yun, with the well-known name as Jack Ma, was born on October 15, 1964 at Hangzhou, China. He is a Chinese entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is the founder and Executive Chairman of Alibaba Group, is a family of highly successful Internet-based businesses.

BACKGROUND:
Jack Ma is a proactive child since he was in his age 12. He started to get interested in learning English. However, he thought that learning from the academic books and from his teacher were not enough to feed his eagerness. So, he would ride on his bike for nearly 40 minutes every morning to the hotel near the city of Hangzhou’s West Lake, which is placed 100 miles far away from the place he lived. This is because, there are a lot of foreigners will be there every morning and he will provide free tour guide for them, and the foreigners will teach him, communicating with him by using English in exchange. Jack Ma has insisted this kind of life continuously, no matter that is winter day or raining day, for eight years. This experience has opened his eye toward the world and brought a big change for him in the future. In order to learn more and polish his English, Jack Ma also bought a video so he could listen to the English broadcast every day. In school, he flunked his exam for university two times before he was accepted by the Hangzhou Teachers University, which is considered as the worst University in his city. In the University life, he was elected as a student chairman and later became the chairman of the city’s Students Federation too. After graduate, Jack Ma applied for many job but at last he was turned down. Eventually, he was assigned to become a lecturer in the University. In 1992, the business environment was growing. Jack Ma started to try to grab the chance and started his translation company. In 1995, he went to Seattle. His friend introduced the Internet to him. This was the very first time Jack Ma started to touch the Internet, even is the computer. However, Jack Ma foresaw the high potential of Internet in the coming future. The idea of doing business via online was always presented in his mind.

THE WAY TO SUCCESS AND HIS COMPANY:
In 1999, Jack Ma invited 17 friends to his department. He explained his plan to them but at last, he only get one supporter. Jack Ma started to begin his online business with the web site name Alibaba.com. In this site, it allow the sellers to post their product on it and if the buyers are interested in, they can deal with the sellers. However, at the beginning of time, there is no much seller and buyer. In order to encourage more seller to post their product on his site and increase the site view, Jack Ma’s company bought all the stuffs the sellers sold. Gradually, the sellers and buyers is keep on increasingly increasing. Due to the site is not limited to anyone and it is globally site, it has successfully to attract the members from all around the world. In October 1999, the company has raised $5 million from Goldman Sachs and $20 million from SoftBank.

Once the Alibaba become stronger day after day, Jack Ma’s company has faced a new problem, that is the way of paying. So, they started to build the new like the TaoBao and ZhiFuBao in order to solve those problem. This company has been upholding the mission of “making it easier to do business across the world” and they have insisted on “customer first” value system.

THE REASONS WHY I CHOOSE JACK MA:
Jack Ma's rise is the one which most amaze me. This is because, as compare to the western country, China seem like less emphasis on electronic commerce. So, the rise of Jack Ma completely caught my eyeball and the following characteristics of his are those I admire the most.
Firstly, Jack Ma positioned himself as the one who will not be easily pushed over. Everyone knows that the mantra of Jack Ma is “Never Give Up”. He is not easily been defected. Even though he was rejected for several times in applying job, but he still always be positive with that. He accepted the offer as the English lecturer in the University with salary 12 Renminbin per month, at the same time he still kept on finding the way to do his own business and finally, he was able to open his translation company.
Secondly, Jack Ma has his own opinion. When he found that the internet business is going to boom in China, he called up his friends and explained what he decided to do to them. Unfortunately, there is only one supported his idea. Even though Jack Ma has undergone many setback and others said he would not able to do that, although other cannot see what he saw, but he chose to ignore the naysayers and he work hard on his dream. I believe that, if Jack Ma was unable to insist on his opinion, today the richest man in the China will not be him.
Thirdly, Jack Ma is always been highly self-motivated. He always says that, all of us are not the genius or talented but a normal people, but all the ordinary people are able to do an extraordinary thing as long as you are not give yourself up and keep on pushing to a higher extend. Every single word of his is resited in my mind. Whenever I feel I couldn't to achieve what I want to achieve, his words will remind me that please don't find myself an excuse and I am the one who has this responsibility to make myself to be a better person.

However, the later program has been shut downed by the school administrator because of the inappropriate function. All of these experiences has trained Mark Zuckerberg becoming a considered developer and paved the road to create a bigger success in his career.

THE WAY TO SUCCESS AND HIS COMPANY:

Mark Zuckerberg work on his own social networking site called The Facebook with friends Dustin Moskovitz, Chris Hughes and Eduardo Saverin. After his sophomore year, he dropped out of college and immerse all of his time to Facebook. By the end of 2004, Facebook had 1 million users.
In 2005,  Accel has invested a huge capital into Mark Zuckergerg’s company  and then he successfully to  grant access to other colleges, high school and international schools, attracting more than 5.5 million users at the end of the same year. This then began to catch the eyeball of other companies, who wanted to advertise with the popular social network. Mark Zuckerberg reject to sell his company Yahoo! and MTV Networks. Instead, he tried to focus on expanding site, adding extra feature and opening up the project to outside developers.

In 2006, Mark Zuckerberg’s company has been sued by the creators of Harvard Connection because of the issue of stealing idea. The incriminating Instant Messages found out that Mark Zuckerberg may have intentionally stolen the intellectual property of Harvard Connection and offered Facebook users' private information to his friends. In 2012, Facebook has become the largest internet IPO through out of the time by initial public offering, which raised $16 billion. Mark Zuckerberg negotiated the company deal to purchase the Instragram. After the initial success of the IPO, the Facebook stock price dropped somewhat in the early days of trading. In 2013, Facebook first time to be counted as the Fortune 500 list. In the same time, the Mark Zuckerberg was successfully to become the youngest C:EO at his age of 28.
THE REASONS WHY I CHOSE MARK ZUCKERBERG:
Among the bunch of entrepreneurs, I choose the Mark Zuckerberg as one of my idols is due to several characteristic of his that I believe that, those characteristic can help us to build up our own personality and achieving the success in the coming future. I would like to share my opinion about Mark Zuckerberg in the following:
First, I admire his braveness in solving the problem when his face his challenges. As we can see, he has shown his boldness since he was still a child, he tried to help his father to solve the problem of yelling scene that occur in the dental clinic everyday by building up a messaging software.
Secondly, I like his decisive in making decision. He is willing to come out from the comfort zone and taking risk to fight for his own dream by dropping out from his sophomore and started to create his own social-networking website. I strongly believe that he must bear a great stress and lot of uncertainty when he made his decision.
Thirdly, I respect his forth future ability. This is because of, although there are several big companies were highly valued his ability in creating software and try to hire him before he graduate, but he rejected all the attractive offers and start his own brand social –network website under his name and finally, he grant a big success and become the youngest entrepreneurs in history.
Fourthly, I firmly believe that we need to learn the courage to admit our mistake from him. He has reveal his willingness to make an apology when he found out what was he done is wrong. Targeted at the issue of stealing idea from Harvard Connection, he had made apology and said "If you're going to go on to build a service that is influential and that a lot of people rely on, then you need to be mature, right?"

BILL GATES

NAME : BILL GATES
AGE    : 60
SEX     : MALE
EDUCATION : HARVARD COLLEGE (1973-1975), LAKESIDE SCHOOL(1967-1973)

Bill Gates, with Paul Allen, founded the world's biggest software business, Microsoft, and subsequently the richest man in the world.

BACKGROUND:

Bill Gates is born on 28 October, 1955, in Seattle, Washington. He grew up in an upper middle-class family, with two sister. Since start from a child, Bill Gates has showed his enthusiasm in reading books, exploring and investigate the knowledge through spending large portion of his time on reading the reference book and encyclopedia. He has an excellent grade and performance in school. However, he seemed bored and withdrawn himself. His parent started to concern his behavior and sent him to Seattle’s Lakeside School when he turned 13. He met Paul Allen in school’s computer lab and due to the common enthusiasm over computer, they became fast friend. During that time, Bill Gates showed his talent by developing a payroll program and scheduling program. In the age of 13, Bill Gates went into business with Paul Allen. They developed “Traf-o-Data”, which can help to monitor the traffic pattern in Seattle. However, Bill Gates’s parents stop him from doing business and wanted him finished school and become a lawyer. Bill Gates enrolled at Harvard University. Although he took the lawyer cause, but he seldom study what he chose. Instead, he spend much of his time in computer lab. At time time, joined Paul Allen, who was working for Honeywell. They immersed them self with the possibility that this computer could create in the world of personal computing. They contact the MITS’s company, which made Altair. They have been asked for demonstration by the company’s president. After Allen wrked at MITS, Bill Gates decided to follow him and dropped himself out from the Harward. This disappointed his parents. In 1975, both of them formed the partnership with name Microsoft, which is well-known today.

THE WAY TO SUCCESS AND HIS COMPANY:

Though BASIC software program for the Altair computer, they netted the company a fee and royalties. Bill Gates found that there are only small amount of people who are using BASIC in the Altair computer are actually had paid for it. He thought the free distribution of software will demotivate the programmers to write a better software and he advocated that the software are needed to be sold. At the same time, Bill Gates has a poor relationship with MITS president Ed Roberts because of they had a clash on software development and direction of business. In 1977, Roberts sold MITS to the other company. Bill gates and Paul Allen sue the new owner of this company in order to retain the software right that they have developed for Altair. In 1978, Bill Gates was in his age 23, he moved company to Bellevue Washington, with 25 employees. He successfully to place himself as the head of Microsoft with grossed 2.5 million US dollar. In 1980, IBM invited Microsoft to collaborate and operate the upcoming personal computer. Due to the lack of operating system that can run IBM’s computer, Bill Gates bought an operating system that can function same like the IBM’s PC. He make deal with the owner of the developer without telling them about the IBM deal. Bill gates has been sued for hiding the important information. He admitted it and paid an undisclosed compensation. In 1981, Bill Gates became the president and chairman of the board, Paul Allen became the executive vice-president. In the same year, Apple collaborate with Microsoft to develop software for Macintosh computers. With the experience of sharing knowledge, Microsoft able to develop Windows. In 1983, Microsoft was going global with offices in Great Britain and Japan, and with 30 percent of the world's computers running on its software.

THE REASONS WHY I CHOOSE BILL GATES:
Bill Gates is the world-class richest man, surely all of his success and achievement are not only merely rely on his fortune and luck. Though out the studied of his past experiences, i have learnt some of the fundamental but indispensable characteristics from him.

Firstly, focus and be hardworking on absorbing knowledge from all sources that you can reach is a must. We can easily see this characteristic since he was still a small boy. Bill Gates was willing to scarify his playing time with his peers, withdrawing himself out from the others and fully immersed himself in all kind of reference books and encyclopedias. He knows how much precious the time is and he filled himself with whatever he needs.

Secondly, Bill Gates masterly aligned himself with those who has the same ambitious and interest. Even though the characteristic of his and Paul Allen is a huge difference, and the Paul Allen actually is his senior, but the gap between them still can be narrowed through the enthusiasm on computer. They shared the knowledge and investigated the computer program together. Eventually, they became the good partner in doing business when came to their adulthood.

Thirdly, Bill Gates is good at using his own infective power to persuade and influence other decision. When Bill Gates still 23, he was invited to co-operate with the Apple to develop software. However, due to his young age, his potential future partner can’t recognize him out at the first place before meeting, he even has been assigned to make coffee.  Fortunately, his good communication skill and well-preparation has brought him with the admiration and the contract to deal.

This was because of, when he was in the age of 12, he has been sent to England for further study and he couldn’t get back to his hometown due to the high price fly ticket. He has accumulated the concept of low price fly whenever he get the chance to fly with his mother when she was doing her business. Tony Fernandes also get the strong support from his friend, Kamaruddin Meranun and Aziz Bakar. Three of them started to surf internet to collect and make their business plan with capital RM 1 million. In order to get the qualified licence of flying, they met Datuk Pahamin and they were suggested to have a meet with Perdana Menteri Dr Mahathir. After presentation the idea to Dr. Mahathir, he highly praised for the effort they paid, and he offered them to choose and take over one of the failure airline company from two. Due to the lack of capital problem, the idea has been delayed for a period. After this, Tony Fernandes met with one of his old friend with name DRB Hicom the ex-owner of the AirAsia. He is agreed to sell his company to Tony Fernandes with RM 1. When that time, the AirAsia was in debt with RM 40 million, two planes, and 254 staffs. I choose the Tony Fernandes as one of my idols is due to several characteristic of his that doesn’t show on other enterpreneurer and I believe that, those characteristic is essential to help us to build up our own personality and achieving the success in the coming future. I would like to share my opinion about Tony Fernandes in the following:
Firstly, Tony Fernandes is never afraid to challenge the norm. Just a few years ago, the passengers are still needed to call a travel agent to buy a fly ticket. In order to provide a more convenient service to customers, Tony Fernandes challenged the norm by riding on the e-commerce wave. They also introduce online check in service to the customers. His innovative idea already created a huge success to his company.
Secondly, Tony Fernandes is always dare to think big and never give up on pursuing his dream. In the old time, the price of the fly ticket is always high and it cannot be afforded by everyone. At that time, Tony Fernandes was still a 12 years old boy but he has noticed this problem and he dares to dream to open his own low-cost airline, even though he still have no much idea and capital to start. He tried to overcome all these problem by spending much effort on it.
Thirdly, Tony Fernandes always be positive when facing the challenges. Although he has only RM 1 million and it is obviously not enough to buy the failure airline company, but he still be affirmative with that. He even has a high confident in re-building the airline company, which was in debt with RM4 million.

This advertisement is based on the story of Akihiko Otsuka’s in his age 35 in Jepun. He wanted to innovate a brand new product which can benefit the society. So, he fired the Harima and Takaichi as is partner in developing the new product, that is the healthy drinks which contain the optimum amount of sugar.
The Takaichi carried out his experiment and has came out with more than 1000 samples. However, his still fail to find out what is the real problem of his product. He even fail in the first time trial which was tasted by the Otsuka Pharmaticeutical. Eventually he had successfully to create a new product with better taste after his worker mixed that drink with another kind of fruit juice.
From this Pacari Sweat video, I have learnt that the spirit of never give up. In the story of developing the drinks, I found that the Akihiko Otsuka is always thinking positively and he have a good forth future ability. Other than that, I have also found that Akihiko Otsuka is a person who are willing to accept other’s opinion and critic and try to learn the lesson from his mistake. Whenever he has been mocked by the other, but he still can bear with it even use other’s suggestion in his experiment. Furthermore, I have learnt that we need to be more strategic in achieving our goal. In the video, Akihiko Otsuka offered the Pocari Sweat as free to all level of society in order to attract their attention in the first place. At last, in the second year of selling this product, the sells achieved a new peak in his company story.
